Castle Peak

We hiked Castle Peak on Saturday. It wasn’t our best 14er attempt…in short we went 2.25 miles out of our way, adding almost an hour and a half to our trip. Combine that with lots of steep climbing and slushy snow and you get two grumpy Sheahans.

There was some good about our trip, too. The glissading was awesome. It made the descent super quick, and we had a blast. It was super fun playing in the snow in August! We slid down the snow on our butts for probably 2,000 feet of elevation loss. =)

A pic of us on the way up, so you can get perspective on the steepness:

See those two, tiny dots at the end of the snow tracks? Those are people…again, giving perspective on the steep factor.
