I don’t feel like I have much to write about anymore now that I’m not training for anything. So, I’ll write about someone else’s accomplishment. You may have heard about it already, but last weekend at the Berlin Marathon, Patrick Makau set a new world record for the marathon: 2:03:38. Holy crap. That’s fast.
One of my first HALF marathon times was just a few minutes faster.
To finish in that time, Makau was running an average of 4:43 minute miles. Can you imagine even running that fast for one mile? I’m super impressed and in awe of all of the awesome running talent that’s out there. It makes me feel really silly for calling myself a runner.
Related: the Berlin Marathon is on my to-run list. I’d like to run in each of the five world majors: Boston, Chicago, New York, London and Berlin. One down (Boston), four more to go. I’m hoping to tackle Chicago next year.
