Lola running in the snow. You’re welcome.

If you’re paying attention to Facebook, you may have realized (like me) that apparently fall = pumpkin patches. Especially if you have kids. I swear every other update from my friends has a picture of them with their baby at a pumpkin patch.
So, we jumped on the bandwagon this weekend. My bro, his fiance and I went up to Fort Collins to hang out with our cousin, who is a sophomore at CSU. We were planning on hiking, but my smart self ended up dropping a stool on my right foot, completely bruising my right big toe. No hiking for me. Instead, we got some pumpkins and did some carving. Now our fall is complete.
I think this quote has been used over and over in the past few hours, but it really hits home for me right now.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
“If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.”
Amen. Thank you, Mr. Jobs. Appreciate the wisdom and the passion you’ve given me and many others.
Time for me to keep looking…
PS, have you heard his speech to Stanford grads a few years ago?
I’m dragging this morning. That’s nothing new, really. I take a long time to wake up. I don’t think my morning routine helps.
Brady usually wakes up and goes to his office downstairs at around 6am. Lola gets fed then promptly climbs back into bed with me. I hit the snooze button for a good 30-45 minutes, then finally get out of bed.
I think if I got up and showered right when B got up, I’d be a lot better off, but it’s pretty much impossible. Especially with Lola next to me, making the bed all warm and snuggly.
I don’t feel like I have much to write about anymore now that I’m not training for anything. So, I’ll write about someone else’s accomplishment. You may have heard about it already, but last weekend at the Berlin Marathon, Patrick Makau set a new world record for the marathon: 2:03:38. Holy crap. That’s fast.
One of my first HALF marathon times was just a few minutes faster.
To finish in that time, Makau was running an average of 4:43 minute miles. Can you imagine even running that fast for one mile? I’m super impressed and in awe of all of the awesome running talent that’s out there. It makes me feel really silly for calling myself a runner.
Related: the Berlin Marathon is on my to-run list. I’d like to run in each of the five world majors: Boston, Chicago, New York, London and Berlin. One down (Boston), four more to go. I’m hoping to tackle Chicago next year.
Ut oh…look who’s Craigslist shopping again. I found another midcentury record player that would be sweet! I love the style. It’s listed for $250.
Record player doesn’t work…does anyone know how much it would be to fix something like that?
Should I get it? If you said “yes,” want to help me convince the husband to get it?
